Basswood Elementary School students attend Math and Science Night

Basswood Elementary School students attend Math and Science Night

On Dec. 9, students and families at Basswood Elementary School braved the snow to attend the Math and Science Night, where students and their families could participate in various STEM activities.

In the gym, students participated in a variety of games and activities sponsored by Mathnasium, including Connect Four, chess, Giant Jenga, Mancala, flash math and other brain teasers and math games. Students could also participate in STEM activities in the cafeteria, including linkage puppets, circuit play with switchers and K’nex tops. At one table, students had the opportunity to hold a real pig heart.

Basswood invited outside partners into the event to lead STEM related activities. The Crimson Robotics team was also in attendance to show off their robots and let students try their hand at driving them around. Students also learned about life-sized dwellings from The Works Museum and had the opportunity to make their own.
